FAQ's & Contact

Dr. Jennifer Donnelly

Dr. Donnelly-Greenberg, Ph.D.

I work with adults and adolescents to help them overcome challenges related to obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders (such as OCD), anxiety disorders, mood disorders (such as depression), interpersonal/relationship difficulties, borderline personality disorder, adjustment difficulties, and many other psychological concerns.

I utilize evidence-based psychotherapy techniques. That means that the treatments I offer have been shown to be effective.

I use a warm, personalized, collaborative approach during individual, marital, and family therapy sessions. I will work with you to establish a treatment plan and help you reach your goals. If it is appropriate, I will include your family in your treatment and/or collaborate with your psychiatrist or school psychologist.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist offering telepsychology/teletherapy services in New York. I completed my doctoral work at St. John’s University and trained at the Bio-Behavioral Institute where I worked primarily with patients who had been diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive spectrum disorders.

Diagnosis & Treatment

Telehealth / Telepsychology

Teletherapy or telepsychology is a form of treatment that utilizes video conferencing, through a HIPAA-compliant platform, in place of face-to-face psychotherapy sessions. Teletherapy using evidence-based treatment has been found to be effective in many populations. Additionally, research has demonstrated that video teletherapy can be an effective means for therapists to provide exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD in children and adults.

Types Of Treatment

Specializing in treating individuals who have been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders such as OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorder Treatment: Traditional psychotherapy has not been shown to be effective in treating the active symptoms of OC-spectrum disorders. Exposure and Response Prevention (E&RP) is considered the gold standard of treatment. The “exposure” component in E&RP refers to exposing yourself to thoughts, situations, images or sensations that typically cause you to feel anxious and/or “triggers” you to engage in compulsions. “Response prevention” refers to the decision to refrain from engaging in a compulsion once your obsession/anxiety has been “triggered.” Over time, you will “habituate” to the anxiety/obsessions. In other words, you will experience a decrease in anxiety when you stop engaging in compulsions.

FAQ's

Will my privacy and information be protected?

Yes. Our system uses the latest technology and security features to ensure that your privacy is protected.

The platform we’ll use to connect is HIPAA-compliant and secure. All sessions, session notes, and correspondences are protected under HIPAA.

For Telehealth, how will I communicate with you during your therapy sessions?

All communication will be done through a secure, HIPAA-compliant web-based platform. All you’ll need to do is click on a provided link immediately before our arranged session time. You’ll be brought into our virtual space and your session will begin. If it would be more convenient for you, video sessions can also be conducted using your smartphone.

Do you accept insurance?

I don’t accept health insurance. However, some insurance companies have out-of-network benefits. I will gladly provide you will with the necessary documentation to obtain reimbursement.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Because each person has different concerns and goals for therapy, it will vary depending on the individual. Using an eclectic, collaborative therapeutic approach, I will create a treatment plan that addresses your specific needs.

How long will it take?

The length of treatment varies depending on your symptoms, level of motivation, and therapeutic goals. Some patients reach their goals within 10-12 sessions. In other cases, such as when symptoms are more severe, a longer-term course of therapy is more appropriate.
